About naturally fermented apple vinegar

Apple vinegar once had a special place in Persian home cooking and traditional practice, until cheap industrial vinegars took over the market. Zaal Market naturally fermented apple vinegar is made the traditional way: 100% apples, fermented naturally without chemicals. Natural mineral salts are used in the fermentation, and no citric acid is added.

Because it is a fermented product, its color can slowly change during storage from light cream to brown. This is not a sign of spoilage, and the vinegar can still be used. Keeping the bottle in a cool, dark place slows the change. The mother of vinegar is removed during production, but a thin layer can still form after packing or if the bottle is not stored properly.

What it contains

Per 100 g, apple vinegar has about 22 kcal, 0 g fat and 1.4 g carbohydrate, with small amounts of potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron and zinc, and some antioxidant compounds. Its acidity is about 5%.

How to use naturally fermented apple vinegar

  • In food: Add it to salads, sauces, soups and stews for a sour note. In traditional Persian practice, vinegar was eaten with meals to help digestion.
  • With pomegranate molasses: Mix apple vinegar with Persian pomegranate molasses to taste, and add a few drops of olive oil if you like, for a tangy, colorful dressing.
  • Diluted in water: Never drink it straight. Dilute a small amount in a glass of water and drink it before or after a meal.
  • Fire cider: It can be used as the base of homemade fire cider.
  • Hair rinse: In home recipes, diluted apple vinegar is used to rinse hair. Test it on a small patch of skin first.

Do not overuse it. If you have a medical condition or take medication, ask your doctor before consuming it.
